[24 Jan 2008|12:03am]

Good morning, people of the dreamtime...

I'm Morrigan.

I am a poetic, nature loving soul.

I wish I was back in the days of harps, lore and story telling by the fire.

I will drag you to the clifftops and sing tales of mermaids and sirens to you in a sweet, beautiful voice.
I will philosophise by the campfire.
I will dance in fields of meadowsweet, calling to the spirits.

I am guided by nature and love trees more than i love most human beings.

"Wishmaster" by Nightwish is my favourite song.

If you would like to get to know me better, feel free to talk. I would love to meet kindred souls!

I juggle knives, spin fire and sing in my spare time. I am a student of sociology full time, until June, when I want to go off in a van on ADVENTURES!!!

Just heard about the floods yesterday, and i wanted to know if everyone was okay....my best friend lives in Sheffield, and i spoke to her yesterday afternoon, but she didnt mention anything about it.
My heart goes out to the families of the 3 people who sadly lost their lives...i hope everyones okay.

Heya! [16 Jun 2007|08:23pm]

hey guys, thanks for letting me join, Im Suey, an 18 year old female. I was born and raised in Sheffield (well i lived the first 12 years of my life there), Pitsmoor to be exact, for those of you who are from Sheffield.
I currently live in London, its quite nice here, but i am missing the Yorksire dialect, and stuff.
The best thing about Yorshire would have to be the people, when i moved to London, it was quite a transition, people dont look each other in the eye, or say hello to their neighbours.
I think Yorkshire is about four hours away form London, i could have exaggerated a bit, but thats what i remember when i was travelling back and forth for a while.
Oh and i miss the peace gardens, and spending my summers running through them with friends :)

Hi [16 Dec 2006|07:07pm]

Hello... Thanks for letting me join, I live in York, born in Leeds, and although I'm a Nottingham Forest fan please don't hold that against me! (I lived in Nottingham when I got into football, so they were my local team!)

Hey thanks for letting me join!
My name is Jayne, and I was born in Bradford but currently living in Vancouver, Canada.
I'm moving back in a few years, so soon I can back up the whole "yorkie lass" saying. :)

The Yorkshire Yammer! [18 Mar 2006|10:06pm]

I wrote to a friend on my LJ list the other day. She lives in America, I had to tell you that or this would have made no sense at all. Anyhow, in the post I said "sommet" and gave a translation. She wrote back telling me she had understood this because it appeared in Harry Potter. I was therefore just wondering if anybody has come across using the Yorkshire Yammer and people not understanding it.

When I lived down south in Eastbourne I could hardly be understood by some of them

World domination? [30 Jan 2006|08:15pm]

How do the members of this community feel about Yorkshire home rule? Anything from the regional assembly idea, a few more decisions being made in the county instead of in London, to us becoming a great independent power and annexing, say, Lancashire. Your thoughts, please?

Hello Everybody - Yorkshire Memories [29 Jan 2006|01:24am]

Well we now have six members and I guess its about time I got the ball rolling with something interesting.

So as a sort of introduction I am going to ask you where your favourtie place in Yorkshire is. And maybe why. This can be a place or even a place within a place.

I'll start!

I adore Whitby. If there was a place I would happily retire to its there. I guess this is because it holds so many happy memories for me. As a child we used to go there a lot for day trip and sometimes longer. It was here that my father introduced me to the joys of reading. He bought me a childrens version of Bram Stokers Dracula when I was ten if memory serves me right. I climbed the steps to the abbey with said book in hand one sunny June day and read it in the shade of its walls. I think it surprised my dad when I came down the steps and trundled onto the beach and gave him a hug and told him it was the best present I had ever had. On the way back to our digs, as we called them then, he stopped and bought me a wonderful hard backed version of the novel and I read that during the rest of the holiday.

Then, I used to go so many times with Adam. My father in law had a fishing boat there too. I never ever tired of the place. Its has been a while since I have been there. Maybe I am a little unsure of going back just incase the now impinges on the past.
